Enrolment Process for  2027

Come along to our Open Evening to see what Rutherford can offer you and your son or daughter. Our enrolments start the week afterward. To enrol please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Complete the Online Enrolment Form

Step 2:  Once all information is obtained through the enrolment form you can book an enrolment interview via this link

All students need to attend an interview with their parent or caregiver to complete the enrolment. Please note that our main enrolling week commences 3 - 8 August, 2026. For enrolments outside of these times you would need to contact Ms Kopittke on [email protected].

If you have not been able to upload the following documents, please bring them to your interview.

  • your son or daughter's birth certificate (or passport), 
  • proof of address (eg. utility bill, rates demand etc) and 
  • your son or daughter's recent school report.

Students will also select their option subjects and there will be time to discuss any other information you think we need to know about your child and answer any questions you have.

If you have not been able to upload the following documents, please bring them to your interview.

  • your son or daughter's recent school report.

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2027

Please follow the same process for Year 9 Enrolments, 2027 (below).

Out of Zone enrolment ballot dates for 2026:

Application closing date: Wednesday 2 September
Ballot date: Wednesday, 9 September

The board have determined the number of out-of-zone places at Year 9 for 2027 will be 40. Other levels will be on a case by case basis depending on the year level.

Enrolment Zone

Students who live within the school zone are entitled to a place at Rutherford College.

To see if you live within our Enrolment Zone Map click here and enter ‘Rutherford College’ in the search box. You can also click on 'address' and enter your address in the search box.

The Rutherford College home zone shall be bounded by a line running from Huruhuru Creek along the centres of Triangle Road, Lincoln Road, Mt Lebanon Lane, the railway line, View Road, Great North Road and Hepburn Road to the corner of Akatea Road and thence directly ahead down the southern boundary of Hepburn Park to the Whau River, then north along the shoreline of Te Atatu Peninsula back to Triangle Road bridge over the HuruHuru Creek.

Out of Zone Enrolment Information

Number of places for 2027 - 40 

Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority: This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
  • Second Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  • Third Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth Priority: will be given to any applicants who are a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth Priority: will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  • Sixth Priority: will be given to all other applicants.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status will be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
