Tongan Group
This year marks a significant milestone for Rutherford College as we proudly debuted our Tongan Group onto the competitive stage at Polyfest. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Vainiaku Tupou, who played a pivotal role in forming the beginnings of the Tongan Group. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Punake, Anaise Small, as well as the band members from Ponsonby Tongan Methodist Church, and the supportive parents who stood by our side throughout this journey.
A special acknowledgement goes to Rutherford College and every individual who generously supported the girls' fundraising endeavours. We also express our appreciation to Viix Henry for graciously opening her home to craft the beautiful costumes. And finally, but certainly not least, we extend our deepest thanks to the girls—Vainiaku, Maryanne, Lisepa, Kelavena, Jane, Keleni, Lotomo'ua, Vava, Olivia, and Lote—for their unwavering commitment to preserving and celebrating our Tongan culture.
Together, we have indeed made history.
