On 3rd July, Thursday evening Students were fortunate to attend the “Red, White & Brass” play at the ASB Waterfront theatre. A play inspired by a true story filled with māfana (warmth) and family. The show highlights the importance of culture, and the journey most young Pasifika students go through during life. Red, White & Brass was a beautiful and inspiring play. There were tears and laughter throughout and the students enjoyed themselves.
“For me it’s about the Culture and proving people wrong and staying true to yourself and your Culture”, Nia Su’a (12IN)
“The stereotypes of having a dad for a Pastor and living up to expectations of being a Pastor’s son and being the eldest in his family”, Debbe Tupe (12RE)
Finally, we want to thank our teachers who took us there, Mr Talamaivao, Mrs Taula and Miss Tolova’a. We also want to thank Mr Taula for also helping with taking us to the ASB theatre.
We were also grateful to see a former Rutherford Student, Petmal Petelo Lam, the assistant director. It was a special night out for the students and a more special treat to end Term 2!
Mālō ‘aupito!!
