The MALOSI Project - University of Auckland

The Malosi Project Workshop

I recently had the privilege of attending a workshop led by the University of Auckland (UofA) Malosi Project Law crew, specifically designed for Pasifika and Maori students ranging from the Year levels of 11-13 who may consider studying Law in the future. The experience was nothing short of transformative, and I'm excited to share my personal takeaways from this incredible initiative.

The crew shared their inspiring stories, expertise, and passion for empowering pacific voices in the legal profession. What resonated most was their emphasis on the importance of representation and Cultural Identity in Law. They spoke openly about their own experiences as pacific students navigating university life, particularly in the field of law.

Hearing their stories opened my eyes to the possibilities and challenges that come with pursuing a career in Law as a Pacific Student. I gained valuable insights into what to expect and how to prepare myself for the journey ahead. My peers and I were eager to learn more, and the crew’s willingness to share their knowledge and expertise was truly appreciated.

The workshop not only sparked a newfound interest in Law among some of my peers but also instilled a sense of confidence and belonging. We realised that we too can succeed in this field and make a positive impact in our communities.

Me and my peers are very grateful for the UofA Malosi Project Law crew’s visit and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for Law and Social Justice. Their dedication to Empowering Pasifika Students is truly Inspiring, and I have no doubt that their work will have a lasting impact on our communities.

Fa’afetai lava to Mr Talamaivao for organising this for us.
