Come along to the college on Thursday 1 August from 6pm - 8pm. The principal will give his address in the School Hall at 7.30pm. It is a good opportunity to view the campus and talk with current students and staff who can tell you more about Rutherford College and what we can offer you.

Open Day: 2 August 9.30am - 1.30pm

If you would like to join a tour of the school during the day then come along to the school on 2 August between 9.30 - 1.30pm. Students will be on hand to take you around the school to view classes in action.

This year there is 40 places at Year 9 for out of zone enrolments. If you are outside of the school zone, please come along to the enrolment evenings and complete your enrolment in the usual way. You will be advised of your success after the 11 September ballot date.

Make sure you complete the online enrolment forms prior to your interview time.

Enrolment Process for Year 9 - 2025

Step 3:  Enrolment Interviews will be held in enrolment week 2024

You will need to attend the enrolment interview with your child and please bring the following documents - your son or daughter's birth certificate (or passport), proof of address (eg. utility bill, rates demand etc) and your son or daughter's recent school report.

At the Enrolment Interview, we complete the enrolment by signing the Partnership Agreement between Rutherford College, the students, and their whanau. Students will also select their option subjects and there will be time to discuss any other information you think we need to know about your child and answer any questions you have.

Enrolment Zone

Students who live within the school zone are entitled to a place at Rutherford College.

The Rutherford College home zone shall be bounded by a line running from Huruhuru Creek along the centres of Triangle Road, Lincoln Road, Mt Lebanon Lane, the railway line, View Road, Great North Road and Hepburn Road to the corner of Akatea Road and thence directly ahead down the southern boundary of Hepburn Park to the Whau River, then north along the shoreline of Te Atatu Peninsula back to Triangle Road bridge over the HuruHuru Creek.

Out of Zone Enrolment Information

Number of places for 2025 - 40 (Year 9) Other Year levels on a case by case basis depending on availability

Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority: This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
  • Second Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  • Third Priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth Priority: will be given to any applicants who are a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth Priority: will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  • Sixth Priority: will be given to all other applicants.

Applicants seeking second or third priority status will be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
