The theme of the Journey: “Ni neart go cur le cheile” - “ there is no strength without unity”

During weeks 9 and 10 of term two 8 year 10 students Completed a 10 day Journey.  The aim of the programme is to be a “catalyst” for positive changes in the participants’ lifestyle. The theme of the journey became “Ni neart go cur le cheile” - “ there is no strength without unity”. In 10 days they journeyed by their own accord from coast to coast. Starting in Omapere up the Hokianga Harbour by Kayak, through Okaihau to Kawakawa by bike then by foot out to the Cape Brett Lighthouse.

Some Highlights:

“Going for the tramp, breathing fresh air and seeing some amazing views. I also enjoyed the sense of community and always having someone to laugh with” - Jess

“Running down the muddy hills and falling into each other, holding the fijian flag over the cliffs, the big long bike ride with the deep slopes, the amazing views and laughing with each other over the most dry stuff” - Mana

As a result of the 10 days spent together there are many memories, shared experiences and some very strong friendships have been formed. An amazing feat by an amazing group of students.

Journey participants were: Mana Brown-Te Pou, Cody Climo, Canaan Drage, Anthony Irimana, Jessica Jones, Bella Kaitamaki, Soro Ramacake, and Dorian Winsor-Simmonds.
