Rutherford College will be offering Mathematics Tuition in Algebra for Year 11 students. We have tutors from the University of Auckland running this program.

Dates: Saturday 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th August, 2nd and 9th September.

Time: 9am-12noon

Venue: Rutherford College, Info-Commons

Students: Year 11 Pasifika

The core of the Pacific Academy for Year 11 students revolves around weekend sessions currently conducted at our South Auckland Campus, Te Papa Ako o Tai Tonga. This programme is led by three University staff members; a University maths lecturer who is also a qualified high school teacher and fluent Samoan speaker Josephina Ah Sam, Rennie Atfield-Douglas a University lecturer who is Niuean and our Pathway Programmes Manager who is also a qualified high school teacher and speaks Tongan,Katalina Ma.

Pacific Academy sessions are available to Pasifika students who are enrolled to do the MCAT (Algebra) external in September, and have successfully completed our registration process and will commit to these regular sessions. These weekend sessions will be from 9.00am - 12.00noon starting on Saturday the 5th of August for 6 weeks where the last session will be on Saturday the 9th of September.

In terms of resources, we provide everything that will be used for the session and we provide 3-4 tutors who will come out. We are also hoping that this opportunity will be open to other students in the area who meet the criteria for the programme and have gone through the registration process.  After each of the sessions, students will be sent a link that gives them access to the resource being discussed in class, as well as the worked solutions written up by the tutor(s).
