World Scholars' Cup 2023

World Scholars’ Cup (WSC) is an international academic programme with more than 15,000 students participating from over 65 countries every year. Ten Rutherford College students from Year 9, 10 and 11 took part in this exciting competition hosted by Kelston Boys’ High School on 15th and 16th August: Natalia Noone-Jones, Kaia Evans, Devashri Srinivasan, Yashvi Trivedi, Harshika Taneja, Riana Hopa, Autumn Bell, Nico Curran, Maire Hohepa and Bomin Kim.

Despite the intensity of the tasks and very long days of gruelling competitions, all students achieved amazing results and each one of them took several medals home. The Junior Division team members were absolute stars of the competition and won the World Scholars Cup for the best Junior Team. Natalia Noone-Jones won the First Place Overall Scholar’s Cup in Senior Division and Top WSC Debater while Kaia Evans won the Second Place Overall Scholar. Both girls took home 9 gold and three silver medals each across 4 events and several team challenges.

The Scholars’ Cup was composed of 5 events: Collaborative Writing, Debating, the Scholars’ Bowl, the Scholars’ Challenge, and the Talent Show.
