Willkommen! Germany- New Zealand Exchange

Herzlich Willkommen to our three German Exchange students Sebastian Braig,Teo Troppmann and Tizian Troll who will be attending Rutherford College for the next two months as part of the Germany-New Zealand Exchange. They are the exchange partners of Zach Petley, Isaac Igusa, Finn Boyack who spent the Christmas holidays over in Germany and attended school there. Pallavi Kumar also embarked on her German adventure and returned to New Zealand with great memories and experiences. Our four Rutherford students really enjoyed their stay and German experience. They improved their spoken and written German while also being exposed to a new culture and school system. 

Their highlights were visiting the Nuremberg Christmas market, tasting the local food, looking at all the beautiful sights, such as old churches and castles and attending a football game in Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena. They enjoyed attending school and making new friends and going on holidays with their host families. Some students got to visit Austria and Belgium. All of our four students went on a group trip with the exchange organization to visit the German capital Berlin with its complex history and multicultural atmosphere. Experiencing a snowy winter was also very special. The group’s flight had to be detoured as Munich airport was snowed in. Snowball fights in Berlin, snowboarding in the Austrian Alps and building the first ever snowman made the exchange a magical winter wonderland experience on top of it all.
