On Tuesday, the top pie-makers from our six Food Technology classes gathered for the highly anticipated final of the 2024 Pie Making Competition. The challenge? To create a healthier pie that balanced excellent cooking skills with exceptional taste. Students followed the design process to develop and perfect their pie recipes, which were evaluated by a panel of three judges.
After a closely contested competition, two pies emerged as joint winners:
🥇 Vege Nacho Pie by Kate Wilcox & Ruby Chung
🥇 Pāua Pie by Ella Waugh & Cassidy Hiwarau
🥉 Third place went to Brendan’s Bouquet by Oscar Wilson & Kiwa Creevey.
Honorable mentions for their creative and delicious entries:

• Big Mac Pie by Stella Mitchell & Taylor
• Healthy Butter Chicken Pie by Han Gao, Charlotte White & Toakase Mahe
The competition was a great success, which the creativity and skill of the students, with healthy eating at the forefront of their delicious creations.
