Pasifika and Kapa Haka performances by local schools at Matariki Celebration

Te Atatu Matariki Performance Day - Friday 21st July 2023  

On Friday the 21st of July the Samoan Group and Kapa Haka group participated in the Matariki Performance celebrations held at the Te Atatu Community Centre. The event was a major success with 10 schools from across the Te Atatu Community involved. Most schools had Pasifika and Kapa Haka groups perform. Many teachers,parents and members of the school community attended the day to support our Rangitahi. The event was a successful celebration of Matariki with all schools  collegially coming together as a proud and connected community. The Rutherford College Kapa Haka  and Pasifika performances were highlights of the day. Many of our Kapa haka students also acted as Tuakana Teina for some of the Intermediates and Primary school performances. Special thanks to Matua Paratene Ngata - Aerengamate, Matua Jeff Ruha  and Kerry Tuala for their tutoring and guidance of our students' performances.
