Acknowledgement of the School Ball. At the start of the term, I feel it is necessary to acknowledge our school ball again. I was very proud of the whole evening from the organization through to the way everybody embraced the occasion and enjoyed themselves. Special thanks to Miss Ivanovic and Miss Yates for their outstanding care and attention to detail with the support of the ball committee. A special night for our wonderful senior students.

Rutherford Day
Our 63rd Annual Rutherford Day is on Friday August 23rd and the guest speaker this year is Karen O’Leary, actress and comedian and schoolteacher, probably best known for her role in Wellington Paranormal.
Rutherford Day- Purpose and History of the Event.
- It is firstly a chance to thank people who support us from within the local community.
- Secondly it is a chance to celebrate who we are as a community and some of our Kaupapa and history while showcasing our students’ talents.
- It is also a chance to think about what’s important now and to look ahead to the future by acknowledging and valuing the past and the current.

Prefects Selection Process
Nomination forms will be at the start of week 5, August 19th which is Rutherford Week. These need to be returned by Friday September 6th.
We are once again very aware of so many of whom are worthy candidates, the challenge is we only choose 24.
What determines how prefects get selected is the following.
It’s about building authentic relationships where kindness and care underpin what you do and how you do it. It is about striving for personal excellence across all aspects of your life.
It’s about the attitude and work ethic we bring with us daily. It’s not about what you can’t do and all about what you can do.
It’s all about little steps in the right direction and how your brand image gets built over time. Success and achievement are only part of it. It’s about displaying respect and taking responsibility, striving for personal excellence in all that you do and in doing so, people know that at your core you are a person of integrity.
I look forward to seeing nominations from many of you. As always it does not take a badge to be leader, that is a decision you get to make every day.
Stand for something – Our values are an extension of ourselves. They are what defines us. How we spend our days over time becomes how we spend our lives. Our values define who we are.
What's coming up?
Lock in 15 August for Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences from 2pm to 8pm. Bookings will open at the end of next week. Teachers can make suggestions and answer any questions you have about particular areas of interest or on progress overall. From 2pm to 7pm the Careers Expo is happening in the School Hall.
