Mid-term Break - Friday 6 September
A reminder that tomorrow, Friday 6 September is mid term break and the school is closed for the day.

GoodSpace Student Wellbeing Survey

Rutherford is using a web based tool with students to survey them about their wellbeing.  This tool is called Goodspace.  It takes less than 10 minutes for students to answer health and wellbeing questions. The survey is used by the Student Services team (that is the counsellors and the nurses) to ensure we are offering support to students as needed.  This is a part of our wellbeing plan to protect and enhance the hauora of our rangatahi. We will be surveying year 12 in the coming weeks.  If you do not wish your child to do this survey, please email their tutor teacher asking them to be excluded from the survey.

Prefect Applications - Close 9 September
Year 12 Students who are interested can apply to be a prefect for 2025. Go to SchoolBridge/Permission Slips and Student Forms/Start Form. Don't forget to click submit. Applications close 9 September.

What makes a good Prefect?

The prefect role is an important position in the school and wider community. They are responsible for enhancing the high standards and culture of Rutherford College. They should be a role model/ambassador, promoting the ethos of the school, be respectful, a team player and able to listen to other people and their point of view. They will be involved in assemblies, events and special occasions in and outside of school and as such represent the school with pride.

Year 9 Hearing Screening - 18-20 September
If you are a parent or guardian of a Year 9 student you will have been sent a reminder to complete the permission slip to allow the National Foundation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing to test students hearing between the dates of 18-20 September this year. Testing is voluntary and free and part of a nationwide programme to identify student who experience hearing loss at an early age. Globally 1 in 5 teenagers have some form of hearing loss and this number is predicted to increase over the next 30 years. A major factor in youth hearing loss is ongoing exposure to loud noises, such as listening to personal devices on headphones too loudly and/or for too long. We encourage you to take up this opportunity for your son or daughter. More information is available here: Listen Up New Zealand Participant Information
