The Wisdom of Pooh
Ancient Greek philosophers like Plato and Aristotle taught how to live the good life. They are not alone. You have heard many words of wisdom during the year. Today we will hear the wise words of one of the great philosophers, Winnie the Pooh. He said, “People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day”.
Here is some more of his wisdom:
- A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.
- If the string breaks, try another piece of string.
- It isn’t much good having anything exciting, if you can’t share it with somebody.
- Rivers know this, there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.
- Never let things come to you, go out and fetch them.
- You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.
- Kindness and care is taking a few steps backward, to give way to the happiness of the people in your life who truly matter.
- It’s best to know what you’re looking for before you look for it.
- When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is about to happen.
- Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved.
As a community we can learn a lot from those who frequent The Hundred Acre Wood. There are many different personalities with different backgrounds in that space and within our space. At Rutherford we all come together and regularly live by the wise words that Pooh Bear shares. For example the current group of Year 9’s had to put their big boots on as they started their secondary school journey. For our graduates it will be a different pair of boots needed for 2025. We wish them well on their future adventures.

Junior Reports will be available to view in the School Portal on Thursday 12 December. Log in to SchoolBridge and click on reports.
Systems Network Upgrade
In January the school will be receiving a Systems Network Upgrade which will be carried out by an external provider. The school expects this work to start 16 January and be completed by 30 January.
During that time the school may experience network outages and staff and students will not be able to access the Student Management System.
Students should log in to the NZQA website to view their NCEA results. You should receive instructions on how to access the site directly. If not, read this page from the NZQA site: Using the MyNZQA learner portal :: NZQA. Students will need their NSN number - which is issued by the Ministry of Education and should be on their exam slips or you can call NZQA on 0800 697 286. All entries and results will be available in the MyNZQA Learner Portal.
SchoolBridge and the School Website should not be affected, but you will not be able to see your NCEA results via either of these platforms.
