THE END OF THE YEAR It is the end of the school year, and a time to recharge ahead of further challenges and new experiences in 2025. Life does not stand still. We must keep moving on. However pleasant one’s life is currently, it must change. We grow older and our view of the world shifts and grows. For most of you, your school career is only 13 years long. In a whole lifetime, that is a very short time. Yet it is still extremely important. Now you can tick off one more year, a year’s work over.
And next year you will face new challenges, some of them harder than you have met before. This is not a reason to be afraid but a cause for celebration. You’re getting older, and more knowledgeable. Your brain is developing and becoming better at learning. You know more and can do more and more with what you know.
Your education will reflect that, and you are ready for the next step. Those leaving our school are progressing to an exciting stage in their life. You will have more control over your decisions and more responsibility for them. Look forward to all of that but also make sure that you enjoy the current moment. And remember your whole life is a learning experience. Junior Prizegiving Congratulations to all our Year 9 and 10 Academic award winners that were acknowledged at this week’s prizegiving’s. The following is a summary of students at Year 9 and 10 that got a Grade point Average greater than 90% and were awarded an academic blue badge.
These results mean that Lomani Kershaw was our top academic student in Year 9 for 2024. Below is the list of Year 10 scholars for 2024.Our Junior Dux for 2024 is Ruby Paapu. Congratulations to both of these students, their families and their teachers. A fantastic achievement.
Students who excelled will have done so due to a collision of reasons, not least the number of people who have supported them, provided advice, guidance kindness and care. These students will contribute their 50% to the learning partnership, being in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. They will be active participants and not spectators.
Progress is largely about the attitude that each individual student adopts and brings with them each day. A growth mindset attitude that you will start from where your feet are now in the pursuit of being better today than you were yesterday. This is a winning attitude.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. I trust that you all have a restful break and can enjoy time with whanau and friends.
