Muddy Showdown: Girls Football game in challenging conditions

Muddy Showdown: Girls Football game in challenging conditions

Inglewood Girls Football team from Taranaki visits Rutherford

The recent FIFA Cup opening in Auckland gave the Inglewood Girls Football team from Taranaki the chance to visit the city and take part in the thrilling event.  When they arrived on Thursday, they were warmly greeted by our Kapa Haka group, prefects, and 1st XI Girls’ Football team.

Before heading to the FIFA game, the two teams had lunch together, providing them with the opportunity to get to know each other. On Friday, despite the unfavorable weather conditions, the Inglewood and Rutherford football girls embraced the opportunity to play against each other. The muddy field presented a challenge, but the girls didn't let the conditions dampen their spirits and had an incredible game.

Both teams displayed commendable camaraderie and sportsmanship. These girls showed us that having fun and enjoying the game is just as important as the final score. We would like to give a special thanks to the parents and families who hosted the Inglewood girls during their stay in Auckland. Their hospitality and support played a significant role in the success of the visit.
