Daniel Lipsham Wins GOLD at Oceania Wrestling Championships

After several years of cancellations and Covid disruptions, the 2023 Oceania Championships were held on 8-9 August 2023 at the Australia Institute of Sport in Canberra, where representatives from eleven countries competed in the various weight divisions and wrestling categories for personal and national glory.  

In the U17 110kg Freestyle Wrestling category, Rutherford’s Daniel Lipsham took out all three of his opponents, one from Australia and two from Palau, to win the Gold medal! 

This gold adds to Daniel’s run of successes, following on from gold in the 100kg Secondary Schools Tournament earlier this year, gold in the NZ National Tournament, and a gold and a silver in the interclub Wrestling tournaments in 2022.
