Students volunteering at the 61st Halberg Awards

The Annual Halberg Awards recognizes and honors New Zealand’s top sporting talent, as well as those that have physical disabilities to give them an equal opportunity at playing sports. This year’s 61st Halberg Awards saw the likes of Lisa Carrington, The Black Ferns Sevens, Sir Wayne Smith, Richie McCaw, Christopher Luxon and a performance from Stan Walker at the end of the night. Chloe Ellis, Tanner Costin, Dylan Chapman, and I were invited to Spark Arena to promote the Halberg Foundation, by collecting raffle tickets from the attendees.

All the proceeds went to a good cause to support the charity for helping young, physically disabled Kiwis play sports. Afterwards, we all got to relax and watch the awards night carry out, seeing lots of famous and familiar faces. This night was a rare opportunity to meet so many different people at such a prominent event, we were all very privileged and grateful for being able to attend such an enjoyable night. Many thanks to the Halberg Foundation for giving us this opportunity.
