Rutherford Wrestles in New York

Captain Daniel Lipsham has recently returned from New York.

Rutherford Wrestling team captain Daniel Lipsham has recently returned from New York where he represented New Zealand in an international wrestling competition. The Journeyman under 18s  World Classic attracts top athletes from all around the world and Daniel is now the proud owner of a bronze medal. Daniel said it was an amazing experience and he is going to keep training hard so he can return next year and take the gold medal.

The 7 man team spent a week in New York with a three day training camp, two day tournament and plenty of sightseeing on the side. They enjoyed the opportunity to train and learn from some hugely experienced and talented opponents and coaches from top wrestling countries.

We look forward to seeing what Daniel picked up when he leads the school team to the Auckland Champs in term 2 and the nationals in term 3.

The Rutherford wrestling team trains every Wednesday after school, welcomes new members, and would like to thank its sponsor Steel Solar and Electrical and Coaches Petar and Amir.
