Cross-Country Championships

On May 22nd, four students from Rutherford participated in the cross-country distance running championships held at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga. This event saw some real tough competition from 50 other Auckland schools, making it a challenging and exciting day for all involved. The weather was stunning, and despite the course being a bit muddy, there were no slips or falls.

Amy Thomson achieved the best result for Rutherford. She finished 10th in the intermediate girls' category with an impressive time of 16:12.0. Competing against 94 other girls, Amy's hard working in training paid off as she secured a spot in the top 10.

Connor McKechnie also showcased remarkable endurance and skill, earning the highest placing among our junior boys. He finished 32nd out of 124 participants, clocking in at 16:39.1. All the boys did great in such a big field of competitors, showing off their impressive fitness and perseverance.

Overall, it was a day full of great performances and awesome finishes, and we are proud of our students that competed and gave it their all.
