"Leadership is not about the title you hold, but the influence you have."

In the heart of a transformative leadership program lies the essence of self-discovery and growth. For ten fortunate individuals (Alex Buchanan, Serena Cameron, Phil Chan Tung, Tiara Dixon, Isaac Lee Sang, Samara Reede, Tio Riki, Thereza Su’a and Beth Taye), including myself (AJ Falaniko-Smith, the "Blues Leadership Program" became a pivotal chapter in our personal and professional development journey.

Under the guidance of seasoned mentors and the wisdom of esteemed Blues rugby players, we embarked on a voyage of introspection and enlightenment. Each session, a revelation; each interaction, a stepping stone towards a more profound understanding of leadership. One of the most poignant moments came when we were graced with insights from the Blues rugby players.

As they shared their experiences and imparted invaluable leadership advice, one quote resonated deeply with us: "Leadership is not about the title you hold, but the influence you have." This quote encapsulates the essence of authentic leadership. It transcends hierarchical structures and emphasizes the power of influence. True leaders inspire and empower others, regardless of their position or rank. They lead by example, embodying integrity, empathy, and resilience.

Reflecting on my journey through the Blues Leadership Program, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude towards the visionary teachers who recognized the potential within us and nurtured it with unwavering dedication. Their guidance paved the way for our transformation, instilling in us the confidence to lead with purpose and conviction. I extend my deepest appreciation to Gill for her discernment in selecting us for this remarkable opportunity. Her belief in our abilities served as a catalyst for our growth, fueling our determination to excel and make a positive impact in our respective spheres.

As I navigate the path ahead, armed with newfound insights and fortified by the bonds forged during the Blues Leadership Program, I am inspired to lead with authenticity, compassion, and resilience.
